The Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,
“the time is drawing near when people shall beat their camels in pursuit of knowledge,and there shall be nobody more knowledgeable than the scholar of Madina.”
– Sufyan ibn ‘Uyayna, Ibn Mahdi and others said they (clearly) understood this to be Imam Malik. Narrated by al-Tirmidhi.
