Asma, Allah be pleased with him, narrated that Revelation was being sent down to the Prophet ﷺ and his head was on the lap of ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, Alayhis Salam; and he had not prayed Asr as of yet and the sun was starting to set at that moment.
The Prophet ﷺ asked: “O ‘Ali have you prayed [Asr yet]?”
He replied: “No.”
Thus, at this occurrence the Prophet ﷺ made a plea in the court of Allah, supplicating:
“O Lord, he, Ali, was busy in service of You and your Messenger, therefore return the sun back for him [so he can pray Salat].”
Asma, Allah be pleased with her, said:
I saw the sun starting to set, but then I saw it rise back up again and daylight became visible upon the mountains and the land around it.
It is known that this incident took place near Khaybar.
