Reading the Fatiha without the Basmala

August 23, 2014 No Comments »

One of many proofs for the Malikis for beginning Surah Fatiha the way we do. There is a difference of opinion within the other Madhahib about this, so this post is not meant to be disrespectful. This is just how we roll as Malikis. Disclaimer.

It was narrated that {Umm a-Mu’minin} ‘Aisha said:

“The Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr, ‘Umar and ‘Uthman used to start their recitation {of Surah Fatiha} with =

“All praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. =
Al-Hamdu LiLLahi Rabbil-‘Aalamin.’” {Quran ~ 1:1}

يَفْتَتِحُ الْقِرَاءَةَ بِـ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

{Sahih Hadith in the Sunan of Imam ibn Majah ~ Establishing The Prayer and the Sunnah}

Wa Sall’Allahu Ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa Ala Aalihi wa Sahbihi wa Sallam
