An Amazing Narration

One of the best narrations ever.

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib’s Valour During the Battle of Uhud.

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, Allah ennoble his countenance, said,

“We were surrounded by the enemy during the Battle of Uhud and because of the commotion I lost sight of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

At first, I searched the battlefield for him, but I could not find him anywhere.

I thought to myself, It is impossible that the Messenger of Allah would flee from the battlefield, so it must be because of our sins Allah has lifted the Prophet ﷺ up into the heavens.

I said to myself, there is nothing else for me to do but to jump back into the battlefield and risk my life for my brothers and sisters in faith.

I therefore, jumped back into the battlefield and was clearing them out easily and this allowed me to catch sight of the Messenger of Allah again.

I was very happy to see him protected and was sure the Angels would protect him.

As I approached the Prophet ﷺ and stood by his side, he kept telling me. “Ali, go check them.” Ali, go check them.”

So I ended up being surrounded by the first group that came for the Prophet ﷺ and in self defense I single-handed defeated them all. Then, a second group tried to sneak up on us and I, by myself, took them down as well.

It was on this occasion that the Angel Gabriel/Jibra’il came and praised Ali for his bravery and his devotion to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

The Prophet ﷺ said,

“Ali belongs to me and I belong to him.”

So, the Angel Gabriel, Peace be upon him, said: “I belong to you both.”

wa Sall’Allahu Ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa Ala Aalihi wa Sahbihi wa Sallam.
