Making Du’a is Worship

Bismillah, Allah tells humanity,

“Call upon Me; I will respond to you.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Truly, making supplication is worship.” and

“Nothing is more honorable before Allah Ta’Ala than supplication.”

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, Allah be well pleased with him, narrated the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said :

“The supplication [Dua] is a weapon of the believer [Silaahul Mumin], a pillar of the religion and a light for the Heavens and the Earth.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught that Allah says,

“Who supplicated Me so that I may answer him ? Who asks of Me so that I may give to him ? Who asks My forgiveness so that I may forgive him ?”

We hope to be of those whose hands are lifted high to the sky, directed high to the sky, late in the night with tears dripping from our eyes; and NOT because Allah is there, but only because the sky is the prayer direction of every supplication, just as the Kaba in Mecca is the Qibla of our worldly prayers.

The great spiritual companion -Salman Al-Farisi, Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Your Lord is munificent and generous, and is ashamed to turn away empty the hands of His servant when he raises them to Him.”
